TRACES had the opportunity to collaborate with Dr. Carol Tsang and Dr. Alison So at the University of Hong Kong on Feb 11, where TRACES was invited to present at undergraduate lectures and introduce the initiative to students. These sessions also served as TRACES Information Sessions, where students learned how to transform coursework into conference-ready research and publications.

The lectures – Education as Solution?, Rethinking Women, and We Are Family: Myths, Realities and the Future of an Idea – are deeply aligned with TRACES’s transdisciplinary mission. Each course encourages students to critically examine across social problems, gender and identity, family structures, policy, and global inequalities – topics are highly suitable for original academic research and specifically for the TRACES conference.
Students in these courses are in an excellent position to turn essays and projects into research papers, gaining early experience in academic publishing, presentation, and interdisciplinary scholarship.

Being invited to promote TRACES directly in university lectures marks a new landmark for TRACES – highlighting growing academic recognition and strengthening our mission to democratize research and academic training for emerging scholars worldwide. Further, TRACES’ education endeavor, such as the AI Literacy Series, also captured students’ attention.
“We are grateful to the Dr. Tsang and Dr. So for the opportunity to speak at their lectures.” Says Damien Shum, the speaker at these sessions. “TRACES’ focus has always been to provide greater opportunities for undergrads and beyond, so it is a privilege to connect directly with students at their lectures.”
We are also thankful to see increased student interest in the conference after these sessions, and we look forward to welcoming new submissions for the upcoming TRACES conference.
✨ Stay tuned for more information sessions, collaborations, and opportunities to get involved!
