TRACES 2025 - Call for Manuscripts
The Transdisciplinary Academic Conference for Emerging Scholars (TRACES), organised by students from the University of Hong Kong, invites undergraduate and postgraduate students to submit their research for presentation at our upcoming conference. This year’s theme, Science and Humanities, emphasizes the integration of diverse academic disciplines to address the complex challenges of today, with a special focus on the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Our conference is designed to foster transdisciplinary research, which combines knowledge and methods from different academic disciplines to create more comprehensive solutions and a deeper understanding of complex issues.
Definition of Transdisciplinarity
Transdisciplinary study combines knowledge and methods from different academic disciplines to address complex issues, creating a more comprehensive understanding. Participants must ensure that their submissions adhere to this definition of transdisciplinarity.
Submission Topics
We welcome manuscripts that engage with, but not limited to, the following Areas of Inquiry which are based upon The University of Hong Kong’s Common Core curriculum:

Science and Technology and Big Data

Exploring the role of data and technological advancements in addressing societal challenges.

Arts and Humanities

Investigating the human experience through culture, creativity, and critical thinking.

Global Issues

Addressing worldwide concerns such as climate change, sustainability, and social justice.

China: Culture, State, and Society
-
Examining the cultural, political, and social dynamics of China and its global influence.

Submissions should reflect a transdisciplinary approach and/or drawing upon insights and methodologies from multiple fields.
Eligibility
Submissions must:

Comply with the Definition of Transdisciplinarity: All manuscripts should demonstrate a transdisciplinary approach as defined above.

High-Quality Term Manuscripts: Both Independent and collaborative research are welcome, including quality coursework assignments.
Submission Guidelines

Abstract Length: 150-300 words
-
Full Manuscript Length: 2,000-5,000 words
-
Formatting Style: Please follow the provided abstract/full manuscript format. (Submissions with wrong formatting will not be entertained)

How to Submit
Please submit your abstract and full manuscript via our online form.
Review Process
Submissions will undergo a peer review process by a Review Panel. Manuscripts will be evaluated based on their originality, relevance to the conference theme, transdisciplinary approach, and research quality.
Publication Opportunities
All accepted abstracts will be published in the Transdisciplinary Academic Conference for Emerging Scholars TRACES 2025 Book of Abstracts.
Accepted manuscripts may be considered for publication in the Transdisciplinary Academic Conference for Emerging Scholars TRACES 2025 Conference proceedings. More details on publication opportunities will be provided upon acceptance.

General Policy and Notice
Previously Presented/Published Policy
TRACES requires that all abstracts submitted be original work, not previously presented at other conference, and not previously submitted for publication prior to the abstract submission deadline date. An abstract which includes an increased number of cases and demonstrates a significant change in results is considered new research; therefore, the work is eligible for consideration.
Copyright Policy
In submitting his or her abstract (hereafter the "content") to TRACES for possible presentation at TRACES 2025, the author retains copyright to the content and agrees to give TRACES a limited, nonexclusive, royalty-free license to present the content on the TRACES website, in the Chronicle, and to archive the content for maintenance of the scientific record. TRACES agrees not to sublicense the content to a third party.
