As over 1,851 participants cross the finish line of the Paulines Sponsored Walk 2026 at Sun Yat Sen Memorial Park today, they are being greeted by a high-tech surprise. TRACES, an undergraduate-led education initiative, has launched the “Future Flyers - SkyRiders Game Show,” an immersive drone piloting experience booth designed to bring hands-on STEAM education to the local community.

Organized by the Paulines Sponsored Walk Organising Committee and St. Paul's College Alumni Association in collaboration with TRACES , the event transforms the finish line of the 175th Anniversary Kick-off event into a dynamic arena where STEAM education and technology meets physical activity.

A Fusion of STEAM and Sports
The "Future Flyers" booth offers a safe, fully enclosed netted arena where walkers of all ages can transition from athletes to pilots. The experience is a unique "game-show" style challenge that guides participants through three distinct zones:
Zone A (Showcase & Display): Participants are briefed on flight controls and the mission of TRACES through interactive displays and posters.
Zone B (Flight Simulation): Before taking to the air, pilots can practice their skills on flight simulators.
Zone C (The Game Show): In the main event, participants have chance to control the drone and fly through a challenging obstacle course with the guidance of professional remote pilots.
"This booth is designed to provide a fun, engaging, and safe hands-on experience," said King Chan, the event organizer. "By combining an obstacle course with a game show, we’re showing that STEAM education can be an exciting part of community events", said Damien Shum, the booth person-in-charge.

Empowering the Next Generation: About TRACES
The presence of the drone arena underscores the mission of TRACES, an undergraduate-led initiative dedicated to fostering innovation through:
Annual Academic Conferences: Providing a platform for interdisciplinary research.
Workshops: Engaging students with cutting-edge topics like AI and drone technology.
Project Showcasing and Publishing: Giving students the unique opportunity to present and publish their original work.
By bringing drone technology to over 1,851 participants at the Paulines Sponsored Walk, TRACES continues its commitment to making complex technology accessible, interactive, and fun for the broader Hong Kong community.
